For the love of God - LEARN HOW TO SPELL
I'm so tired of seeing ads for Weinheimers, Chiwawas, Rockwallers, Dotsons, German Shepards, etc. The very first step for anyone wanting to become a breeder should be learning everything there is to know about the breed you're interested in... and that includes the correct spelling and pronunciation of that particular breed!

Breeding dogs is time consuming, expensive and at times heartbreaking. It should not be taken lightly. If your only goal is to make money or make some cute puppies, YOU SHOULD NOT BE BREEDING!

Responsible breeders first learn everything they can about their chosen breed as well as dog health and training. They learn their breed standard until they can recite it from memory. They know how the dog should look, how it should move, how it should behave. They learn all about genetics and pedigrees. They attend dog shows and trials. They talk to experienced breeders. They find a mentor willing to help them and answer any questions they may have.

Then you start to show, and even maybe start competing in a few dog sports. Put some titles on your dogs. Then get them all of their proper health screenings depending on their breed. Then and ONLY THEN do you consider actually breeding your dog!
